Before you rush to use and load your dishwasher right after your next meal, we recommend you read our tips on what to avoid and not do when loading your dishwasher, so you have a smooth experience using it.
The best dishwasher in the market requires the best loading strategy, which will keep your kitchenware in the cleanest, most hygienic condition, and keep the washer’s performance at its best.
Have you ever loathed loading your dishwasher? Or found it confusing and irritating? That is because you have probably loaded it the wrong way prior to this point.
Read the following points on what to avoid when loading your dishwasher:
1. Don’t Pre-Wash
Turns out you’re doing it the wrong way before the actual loading; you should stop pre-washing your kitchenware before loading the washer, and here’s why:
Not only do you waste water when you pre-wash, which defeats the purpose of your eco-friendly water-saving dishwasher, but loading the dishwasher with pre-washed kitchenware will also make it run a light washing cycle automatically, assuming that your plates and spoons are cleaner than they actually are.
In addition, pre-washing your kitchenware will stop the washer’s detergent from working the way it is designed to work, which is to cling to food particles to separate them from the kitchenware.
What you should do: scrape large pieces of food into the trash.
What you should avoid: pre-washing.
2. Don’t Block the Sprayer Arm
No matter how you load the dishwasher, make sure not to block the sprayer arm with a bowl on the bottom rack, or by simply overly crowding it. If the sprayer arm is blocked, your kitchenware will not get cleaned properly, and the dishwasher will run its cycle for nothing.
What you should do: load your bowls and plates facing inwards.
What you should avoid: blocking the sprayer arm and overcrowding your bottom rack.
3. Don’t Load Glasses Over Tines
You are probably guilty of doing this, and it is exactly why your glasses aren’t getting cleaned the way you want them to be cleaned, and it is why they have a higher chance of breakage.
So, since you have a dishwasher at home, use the adjustable tines to your advantage: place your glasses in between the tines, and adjust them accordingly.
What to do: adjust the tines and place glasses in between them.
What to avoid: placing the glasses over the tines.
4. Don’t Put Plastics on the Bottom Rack
Do so only if you want your plastic food storage containers to melt, which is not exactly what you want nor await when washing them. It doesn’t matter if you skip the drying cycle or not, the washing cycle is enough for your plastic containers to melt off. So, simply place them on the top rack.
What to do: place plastic food containers on the top rack.
What to avoid: placing plastic food containers on the bottom rack.
5. Don’t Load the Dishes in the Same Direction
It may look appealing and neat to place all your dishes in the same direction in your dishwasher, but it does not get you the best washing results, as that doesn’t get them equal access to the water and detergent.
So, stop blaming your dishwasher for not cleaning and washing your dishes properly, and place them on the bottom rack facing the center.
What to do: place plates on the bottom rack facing the center.
What to avoid: placing plates in the same direction.
Now that you know what to do and not do when loading your dishwasher, you are ready to load it the best way possible to get the best results.
